OroCommerce for B2B buying that does not fit a standard cart.

Design and implement company accounts, customer-specific catalogues and prices, RFQ-to-order workflows and the ERP connections behind them for manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers.

Discuss OroCommerce

Where OroCommerce fits.

A B2B-first commerce application for organisations whose normal sale includes account hierarchies, several buyers, negotiated pricing, quotes, purchase references, payment terms or sales-assisted ordering—and that can support a specialist implementation and operating model.

We assess the business model, operating complexity, team and system boundaries before recommending a platform or implementation path.

Who it is a strong fit for.

Fit is defined by the work the platform must support, not by brand familiarity alone.

01

Manufacturers and distributors

Businesses selling technical or repeat-purchase products through dealers, branches, trade accounts or direct business customers.

02

Quote-led B2B sales

Teams where a buyer request, seller response, negotiated quote and accepted order must remain one traceable commercial flow.

03

Complex customer structures

Organisations that need parent and child accounts, buyer roles, address books, permissions, customer groups and account-specific terms.

04

Multi-site commerce programmes

Companies that need several portals, brands, regions or business units and are prepared to verify the required Enterprise capabilities and data boundaries.

What OroCommerce can support.

Capabilities are grouped around real business workflows. Exact plans, editions, versions and extensions are verified during discovery.

01

Accounts and buyer permissions

Customers can represent companies and divisions; customer users, roles and access levels govern what each buyer can view and do.

02

Catalogues and contract pricing

Web catalogues and price lists can be assigned at website, customer-group or customer level, with quantity tiers, currencies, schedules and rule-based calculation.

03

Shopping lists and quick order

Buyers can maintain multiple lists, reorder, enter or paste SKUs and quantities, or upload a purchase list before ordering or requesting a quote.

04

RFQ, quote and order flow

Shopping lists, requests for quote, seller quotes, checkout and orders form a connected sales flow that can support negotiated and assisted buying.

05

Websites and organisations

Configuration and data can be shared or separated across websites and organisations, subject to the selected edition and architecture.

06

APIs and workflow extension

The application exposes JSON:API-based REST capability and a Symfony/PHP extension model for integrations and business-specific workflows.

Implement product discovery, account self-service, shopping lists, quick order, RFQ, quote acceptance, checkout, reordering and order history.

04

Account, catalogue and pricing setup

05

RFQ and sales workflows

Shape request, negotiation, approval, seller action and order-conversion workflows around the commercial team’s responsibilities.

06

ERP and business-system integration

Connect customers, products, prices, inventory, quotes, orders, fulfilment, invoices and status feedback with explicit ownership and reconciliation.

07

Migration and launch

Clean and migrate customers, users, addresses, products, prices, open commercial records and content through rehearsed cutover and validation.

08

Customisation, upgrades and support

Extend the application where standard behaviour is insufficient, then maintain tests, releases, monitoring, performance and upgrade readiness.

Where the platform creates value.

Representative use cases connect software capability to the operation behind it.

01

Dealer or distributor portal

Give each business and buyer the correct catalogue, price, terms, locations, order history and repeat-order path.

02

Negotiated quote to order

Carry a buyer’s requested items and notes through seller negotiation, acceptance, checkout and the downstream sales order without rekeying.

03

Large repeat orders

Let buyers paste or upload SKUs and quantities, build reusable shopping lists and see relevant availability before submission.

04

Commerce connected to ERP

Keep account and buying experience in OroCommerce while ERP governs agreed product, stock, fulfilment, invoice or financial records.

Connected to the wider business.

Every implementation defines the records, events and exceptions before and after the platform.

How it compares with other choices.

We evaluate OroCommerce against the wider category rather than forcing requirements into a preferred tool.

01

Choose OroCommerce when

Account structure, negotiated pricing, RFQ and sales-assisted B2B are central enough to justify a specialist application.

02

Choose Shopify or BigCommerce when

A managed commerce core covers the commercial rules and the organisation values ecosystem and lower platform ownership.

03

Compare Adobe or enterprise suites when

Commerce sits inside a larger enterprise experience, content, marketing or global technology programme.

04

Compare Spree or composable products when

The differentiated domain model, API composition or preferred engineering stack matters more than a B2B-first packaged workflow.

From requirements to a working OroCommerce system.

01

Discover

Trace representative self-service, quote-led, sales-assisted and exception orders with buyers, sales, service, operations and finance.

02

Design

Agree edition, deployment, account and website model, data owners, integrations, customisation boundaries and rollout sequence.

03

Configure and build

Use native customer, catalogue, pricing and sales-flow capability first; extend only where the requirement creates defensible value.

04

Integrate and migrate

Implement identifiers, mappings, validation, retries and reconciliation while loading governed customer, product and commercial data.

05

Validate

Run role, price, quote, order, tax, payment, inventory, fulfilment, security, performance and failure scenarios with named owners.

06

Launch and operate

Use a rehearsed cutover, monitor business and technical exceptions, stabilise the release and maintain an upgrade-aware backlog.

What to prove before launch.

Use a real order and its difficult exceptions to check the proposed setup before committing to go live.

  • A buyer can see only the catalogue, quantity price, addresses, terms and actions assigned to the correct company and role.
  • An RFQ can become a negotiated quote and accepted order without losing item, price, buyer, seller, PO reference or conversation context.
  • A pasted or uploaded large order reports invalid SKUs, unavailable quantities and unit issues clearly before it reaches operations.
  • The same accepted order cannot create two ERP orders; a rejected handoff has a visible reason, owner, safe retry and reconciliation trail.

Common questions about OroCommerce.

What is OroCommerce best suited to?

It is strongest for manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers whose everyday buying model includes company accounts, buyer roles, customer-specific catalogues or prices, quick order, RFQs, quotes or sales-assisted orders.

Can OroCommerce integrate with our ERP, PIM, CRM or WMS?

Yes when the required records and interfaces are available. We define the owner for each record, map identifiers and states, and implement validation, retries, monitoring and reconciliation rather than treating connection as a one-time export.

Does OroCommerce support customer-specific pricing?

Its price-list model can assign prices at customer, customer-group, website and system levels and can include quantities, currencies, schedules and calculation rules. The final design still needs proof against your pricing precedence and ERP ownership.

Can buyers request and negotiate quotes?

OroCommerce documents a connected flow from shopping list or quick order to RFQ, seller quote, acceptance, checkout and order. We test permissions, revisions, expiry, price ownership and the downstream handoff for the proposed release.

Can OroCommerce run more than one portal or website?

Multi-website and multi-organisation models are documented, with some capabilities limited to Enterprise edition. We confirm what must be shared or isolated and verify the licence and release before architecture is final.

Is OroCommerce open source?

Oro publishes application code and provides an extensible Symfony/PHP platform, alongside commercial Enterprise products and services. Open code does not remove licence, implementation, infrastructure, security, support or upgrade costs.

How much does OroCommerce cost?

Oro does not publish a simple numeric licence on its pricing page. It says pricing is shaped mainly by commerce volume, internal admin users and deployment. A useful budget also includes discovery, build, migration, integrations, hosting, support, upgrades and internal ownership.

Do you claim to be an Oro partner?

No partner status is implied. Harmatiq scopes OroCommerce development and integration against the current edition, documentation, application architecture and the business workflows that must be proven.
